The short version. This site does not ask you for anything. We do not run advertising trackers on it, we do not sell data, and the only personal information connected to a purchase is held by the company that processes the payment.

When you just read this page
Browsing this site does not require you to give us anything. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use those logs to identify or profile individual visitors.
Measurement
We measure, in aggregate, how many people reach the page and how many start a checkout, so that we know whether the page works. These measurements are not used to build a profile of you and are not shared with advertisers.
When you buy
Purchases are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd as merchant of record. Paddle collects the information needed to take the payment, issue your invoice and apply the correct tax — typically your name, email address, country and payment details. We never see or store your card details. We receive the order record, including your email address, so that we can send you the file and answer you if you write to us. Paddle's own privacy notice governs what Paddle does with that information, and it is available on their website.
Your email address is used to answer you, to send you the file again if you ask for it, and to send you a corrected edition if we fix an error in the guide. We do not add you to a marketing list for buying the guide. If we ever offer a newsletter, it will be something you opt into separately.
How long we keep things
Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Email correspondence is kept while it is useful and deleted when it is not.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@japanchecklist.com and we will deal with it. If you are in the EU or the UK and you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
Cookies
This page sets no cookies of its own. The checkout, which is operated by Paddle, sets what it needs to process the payment and prevent fraud.
